• Description: Provides limited cash payments to eligible families with children. Eligible families receive employment and training programs that help move towards self-sufficiency. Offers childcare, transportation, and counseling to families in work activities. Offers referrals to Legal Aid of Sonoma County for assistance at little to no cost. Special services are available for pregnant and parenting teens through CalLearn. Helps homeless eligible CalWorks families who may qualify with finding housing and can give clients up to 2 weeks of hotel stays per year as needed.
  
  CalWORKS is California's version of the Federal Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF). CalWORKS recipients receive Medi-Cal coverage and may also qualify for CalFRESH (Food Stamps).

• Eligibility: Families with children under age 18 or under age 19 if the child is in high school or vocational school. One or both of the child's parents must be unemployed, disabled, continuously absent or deceased. Applicants must meet income and resource limits. Applicants may also qualify if - pregnant in the second trimester - a mother under age 18 - a relative caring for a child
